Staying warm

  • Land gets colder toward the center, from about −15°C at the edges to −80°C at the Capitol.
  • Below −20°C a 5-minute countdown starts, then your base is Frozen: no relocating or rallying (alliance and random teleports still work).
  • To thaw, stay above −20°C for 5 minutes. At +4°C or warmer you get bonus resource output.

Heat sources: your High-heat Furnace, the Alliance Furnace (if you're in range), City furnaces (warm the whole city tile), the Nuclear Furnace once reactivated, and allies' recon planes.

Heat losses: blizzards, squads leaving your base, and attacks from polar beasts.

Managing coal

Coal fuels your furnace and your factories. A common spending order:

  1. Emergency heat.
  2. Factories (lowest level first).
  3. A reserve for blizzards.
  4. Alliance Furnace donations.
  5. Overdrive (big heat, big coal cost; don't leave it on).

Dig Sites and Cities

  • Cities and Dig Sites alternate across the map. Corner contact counts as connected.
  • Your first capture must be a level 1 Dig Site. Up to 2 Dig Site captures a day. Each capture runs up to 4 hours.
  • Cities produce Rare Soil every hour (350 at level 1 up to 1,000 at level 6), and Dig Sites produce Coal and some Rare Soil.
  • Polar beasts guard Dig Sites and must be thawed before you can attack.

The Rare Soil War (from week 4)

Two rounds a week (Wednesday and Saturday), eight in total.

  1. Monday: rankings recorded. Alliances only fight others in their bracket (ranks 1–10, 11–20, 21–30, 31–50 of each faction).
  2. Tuesday: R4+ declare war. Up to 3 attackers can pick the same defender.
  3. Wednesday: the defender can invite up to 2 partners, then the war starts at 13:00 server time.

Defenders one short30 min×2

Attackers win only by bringing the defender's Alliance Furnace to 0%. Up to 100 squads can reinforce it, and it doesn't heal during the war. A winning attacker plunders up to 20% of the defender's Rare Soil (30% in week 6's Showdown).

The Nuclear Furnace and Glacieradons (week 5)

The whole server works together to reactivate the Nuclear Furnace, which warms the entire map. Meanwhile four Glacieradons march in from the corners and drain progress. Attack them when they stop at a city, and spend your daily attacks carefully.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving overdrive on.
  • Upgrading only your highest factory.
  • Moving toward the center faster than your heat allows.
  • Letting alliance Rare Soil drop below what the Alliance Furnace's level needs.
