#Alliance ranks and roles
| Term | Means | Notes |
|---|
| R5 | Rank 5: alliance leader | One per alliance. Sets the rules and speaks for the alliance |
| R4 | Rank 4: officer | Runs events, rallies and diplomacy alongside the R5 |
| R3 / R2 / R1 | Regular members | Higher ranks get more alliance permissions |
| Pres | President | Leader of the alliance that won Capitol Conquest. Hands out titles |
| VP | Vice President | A title with building, research and training bonuses |
| Sec | Secretary | Titles such as Secretary of Development, Science or Interior |
| NAP | Non-Aggression Pact | An agreement between alliances not to attack each other. See Warzone Etiquette |

#Events and game modes
| Term | Means | Notes |

| VS / AD | Alliance Duel | The weekly six-day points event against another alliance. See the VS planner |
| AR | Arms Race | Rotating daily point stages that run alongside VS |
| DS | Desert Storm | The weekly alliance battlefield |
| WD | Warzone Duel | Server-against-server war week |
| SvS | Server vs Server | Any event where whole servers fight each other |
| CC | Capitol Conquest | The fight for the Capitol; the winner's leader becomes President |
| ZS | Zombie Siege | Waves of zombies attack your base. See the Zombie Siege guide |
| GE | Global Expedition | Cross-server PvP mode |
| Worm Smashing | An alliance event | Alliance members team up to smash worms for rewards |
| TS | Transfer Surge | The end-of-season window for moving to another server |
| S1–S7 | Season 1 to Season 7 | Each season brings a new map and systems. See Seasons |
| PS / OS | Pre-season / Off-season | The weeks before a season starts, and the break after it ends |
#Heroes and squads
| Term | Means | Notes |

| UR | Top rarity (gold) | Top-rarity heroes, your long-term team |
| SSR | Second rarity (purple) | Strong early; some can be promoted to UR |
| SR | Third rarity (blue) | Early filler heroes |
| EW | Exclusive Weapon | A hero's own weapon, unlocked in a season |
| Promo | Promotion | Upgrading an SSR hero to UR |
| 4+1 | Four heroes of one type plus one other | A squad style that relied on a Tactics Card removed in Season 6 |
| THP | Total Hero Power | Your heroes' combined power, often used to compare accounts |
| Main / 2nd / 3rd squad | Your strongest, second and third squads | Most players build one main squad first |
| Overlord | The Overlord unit | A special unit you train and level separately from heroes |
#Base and resources

| HQ | Headquarters | Your main building. Its level gates almost everything else |
| TC | Tech Center | Where you research |
| DG | Drill Ground | Holds troops ready to fight |
| RSS | Resources | Food, iron and coins |
| SU / Speedups | Speed-up items | Cut building, research, training or healing time. See the speed-up calculator |
| T1–T10 | Troop tiers | Higher tiers are much stronger; T10 is the top |
| VIP | VIP level | Account level that unlocks bonuses while VIP time is active |
| F2P / P2W | Free-to-play / Pay-to-win | Players who don't spend, and the debate about whether spending wins |
#Combat and map
| Term | Means | Notes |

| Bubble | Shield | "Bubble up" means turn your shield on |
| Zero / Zeroed | Losing all your troops | "He got zeroed" means his base was wiped out |
| Rally | A group attack | Several players join one attack led by the rally leader |
| Reins / Reinforce | Sending troops to defend an ally | |
| Hit | An attack on a base | |
| Burn / Burning | A base on fire after being attacked | It loses durability until it's repaired or put out |
| TP | Teleport | Moving your base on the map |
| Scout | Spying on a base before attacking | |
| Farm | An inactive or alt account, often hit for resources | Most servers only allow hitting inactive, unaligned farms |
| Alt | A second account | Often used for resources or as a farm |
| Tile | A resource spot on the map | "Hitting tiles" means attacking players gathering there |
| DW | Doom Walker | A powerful zombie on the world map that alliances team up to take down |
| DE | Doom Elite | A tough elite zombie on the world map, worth hunting for its rewards |
#Chat shorthand

| WC | World chat (everyone in your server) |
| GG | Good game |
| AFK | Away from keyboard (not playing right now) |
| ETA | Estimated time of arrival ("rally ETA 2 min") |
| OMW | On my way |
| IGN | In-game name (your commander name) |
| TY / NP | Thank you / No problem |
| Reset | The daily server reset, when daily tasks and events refresh |
